The cabinet
Specimen plates from the cabinet
The cabinet is not a portfolio of other people’s secrets. Every specimen below is either a working sheet from our own desk or a plate redrawn from figures that were already public, with names of halls and people removed. We keep them so a steward can see how portal engagement tracking looks once it has been drawn as data visualization: a title, a window of dates, a unit, and a caution when the sample is thin.
Look at the type size before you look at the ornament. If you cannot read the axis from a municipal table, the plate has failed, however handsome the paper.
When you want plates of your own portal, the usual path is an engagement audit if we must watch the counter, or a chart commission if the counts already sit in a drawer.
